Former director of Derann Film Services Ged Jones took part in an interview, followed by a question and answer session, at the 2022 Blackpool Film Collectors’ Convention. Chaired by Convention co-organiser Adrian Winchester, Ged explained how he came to work for Derann; the threat of VHS in the 1980s – and how Derann met that challenge; how they went about securing rights to release films on Super 8… and much more besides.
The session was filmed and recorded by collector Eivind Mork, and an edited version can be seen in his video review of the 2022 Convention, with Ged’s interview starting at 11min 50s.

Derann Film Services took over the organisation of the Blackpool Film Collectors’ Convention in 1985, adding the Saturday night Convention Dinner. They continued to organise it until they closed in 2011.
