The 1988 Convention was a particularly memorable one, for Derek Simmonds of Derann Film Services engaged legendary film maker Ray Harryhausen as after-dinner speaker at the Convention Dinner.
As well as enthralling diners with stories and accounts of making his stop-motion films, Ray brought along several of the actual models used in his films including a Skeleton Sworsdman, the Ape Creature and the Moon Men.
To end his talk, and the night, the diners were privileged to be shown, on 16mm, MOTHER GOOSE STORIES – enchanting, animated shorts Ray had made in the 1940s in his own garage.
