Meet the Team

About the Organisers

Since 2022 the Blackpool Film Collectors’ Convention has been organised by a team of volunteers who took over when Elaine Guest stepped down.

The team operates the Convention on a non-profit basis: any surplus goes towards the next event.

The volunteers are all enthusiasts, meaning that the Convention is run by collectors for collectors.

Convention co-organiser Adrian Winchester

Adrian Winchester

Adrian first attended the Convention in 1984, enjoying it so much that he hasn’t missed one since! Following Derann’s demise and with David Guest’s approval, he restored the dinner to the weekend in 2012. He’s now also the one asking the questions in Sunday’s Q&A slot.

Adrian collects Super 8 and 16mm films, particularly seeking out horror, sci- fi and fantasy rarities.

David Watson

David is another long-time Blackpool attendee and has been helping organise the Film Collectors’ Dinner since 2012. David generously donates many of the raffle prizes, and often helps out projecting during the Sunday Film Fair.

David collects films primarily on Super 8 which he projects on Elmo and Fumeo projectors.

Convention co-organiser Jeremy Norman

Jeremy Norman

Jeremy has been on the organising team since 2022 and is the one who takes your cash at the entrance to the Film Fair… and at the auction!

Jeremy collects films on a variety of gauges, but is a fan of standard 8mm and has an impressive collection of projectors.

Convention co-organiser John Armer

John Armer

John joined the team in 2023 and is the one responsible for this website and the Convention’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel.

John’s collection is solely standard 8mm and Super 8 films and he has been collecting releases by Perry’s Movies. He also has a growing collection of Eumig projectors.

Convention Co-organiser Mark Norton

Mark Norton

Mark can often be seen on projection duties throughout the weekend, usually with his trusty Elmo GS-1200 Xenon Super 8 projector. Mark has also projected at BBFC, The Big Screen Time and Film is Fabulous! events.

A super 8 and 16mm collector, Mark is a wizard with a soldering iron, meaning he can keep on top of his projector modifications and repairs.

Simon McConway

Simon is the one who liaises with the dealers attending the film fair – he sends out the booking forms and then tries to work out how to fit everyone into the dealer rooms!

Simon regularly brings his super 8 camera to the Convention to capture it on film. He collects super 8 and 16mm films and has more projectors than he dares to mention.
