Terms and Conditions

Effective from 5th November, 2024

1. Introduction

We reserve the right to update these terms and conditions when it becomes necessary. We will change the effective date, above, when the changes have been made. Where we refer to attendees, unless specified this includes those visiting for the screenings, Film Fair and Convention Dinner, and dealers attending the Film Fair.

If we ask for personally identifiable information to allow us to arrange, for example, the Convention Dinner and Film Fair, rest assured that we will never rent or sell your private information. See our Privacy Policy for more information.

2. Responsibility of Attendance

It is the responsibility of attendees to read any email communication provided about the event and check the website for up-to date information before attending.

Attendees are responsible for their own possessions and property brought to the Convention and the organisers will not be liable for any loss, damage, theft or expense.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The organisers and / or the venue reserves the right to refuse admission or eject attendees:

  • For appearing to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs
  • For antisocial and/or dangerous and/or illegal behaviour or abuse of any sort to any other person
  • For failing to comply with reasonable requests from the organisers or venue management.

3. Booking the hotel

Attendees who wish to stay at the hotel for the Convention weekend must arrange their accommodation directly with the hotel. Any special rates we have secured for the hotel accommodation will be publicised at blackpoolfilmconvention.co.uk/visit; advance payment may be necessary to secure the room and refunds may not be available in event of cancellation.

We encourage you to be aware of the hotel’s terms and conditions prior to booking.

4. Film Collectors’ Dinner

Those wishing to attend the Film Collectors’ Dinner must book and pay in advance (seven days). Those staying at the hotel on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast package can transfer their Saturday dinner to the Film Collectors’ Dinner but you must inform us in advance of the Dinner. Visit blackpoolfilmconvention.co.uk/visit for booking information.

Cancellation

If you wish to cancel your dinner reservation, please contact us as soon as possible. We may not refund if you decide to cancel within seven days of the Dinner and refunds can only be issued to those not resident at the hotel (i.e. those not transferring their dinner booking).

In event of us having to cancel the Dinner, we will inform you by email and issue a refund.

5. Film Fair

General Public

Entrance to the Film Fair is by ticket, paid for in cash at the door. No advance tickets are available. We reserve the right to limit the number of attendees if the event becomes too full.  Anyone trying to gain entrance for any reason before the published official start time may be refused entry.

You are welcome to submit films and equipment to be sold via the Bring-and-Buy stall and the auction for which there is a fee, payable in cash, as detailed on the Visit page. While we will take every care, items are entered at your own risk.

The organisers will not mediate between stallholders and their customers in the event of a dispute arising from a purchase at the Film Fair.

Stallholders
Booking

To book a stall, you must complete the booking form which will be sent to you. For safeguarding purposes, we conduct background checks on all dealers and anyone supporting them on their table.  Organisers reserve the right to refuse a table booking.

Your booking must be paid for prior to the Film Fair. We accept cheques or payment can be made by bank transfer – details will be provided on the booking form. Without payment, your booking is not confirmed.

Your booking includes entry for you and one other person only which you must have provided on the booking form. Dealer badges (x2) will be provided on the day.  Any persons without a badge will be asked to leave the room before doors open. Please tell us as soon as possible if you are bringing more than two people.

Cancellation

We will not refund if you decide to cancel within 14 days of the event.

On the Day

The Dealer room is open for set-up from 8am onwards on the morning of the Film Fair, but not before. Your tables will be clearly marked with the name of the person named on the booking form as responsible for the table.

No persons, except dealers/organisers are allowed in before 10am.  This will be strictly adhered to. Doors will never open before 10am promptly, without any exception. Dealers are requested not to pack away until the end of the Convention.

Tables are provided for the sale of items related to the world of film and associated equipment; not miscellaneous bric-a-brac, which are not related to cine in any way. No items to be placed on the floor for health and safety reasons; all items for sale must be placed on the tables provided. No posters to be attached to the hotel’s walls.

Pirate/copy DVDs and/or offensive or illegal material must not be sold and these will be reported to the authorities and/or the hotel.

If you suspect thieves, report this without delay to the organising team. We will follow up any such reports and ban collectors, as we have previously done, if appropriate.

6. Event Capture

We may film, video, photograph and record events during the Convention and by attending, you consent to this. If you wish to film professionally (e.g. interview people) permission must be sought from the organisers seven days before the event.
